Our Social Soul

That this technology could change lives for the better was obvious… We see endless possibilities for variable focus lens technology. I believe we are just at the beginning of a journey that will transform people’s vision around the world.”

Our mission: Transforming the way people see, to improve the way people live.

We are a company founded on a technological breakthrough that has revolutionized eyewear, and we are a business built on a vision to bring sight to the world. The ability to see clearly changes lives – it increases productivity, fosters independence, and helps people reach their potential.

Since our origin 10 years ago, our social soul remains fundamental to the Adlens story, as we seek to provide universal access to vision correction through social partnerships. These partnerships have been designed to help organizations bring promising eyecare and eyewear solutions to more people. We have worked with a number of global organizations to provide product and field training to underserved populations.

Vision for a Nation

The UK charity’s mission is to provide local access to eye care and affordable glasses in emerging nations. In the first programme of its kind Vision for a Nation is working in Rwanda, which has just 14 ophthalmologists for a population of 10.5 million people – 85% of whom live in rural areas. It is supporting the Government of Rwanda to train nurses in every health centre across the country to provide front-line eye care and affordable glasses. Vision for a Nation is transforming lives and by 2017 aims to have screened over 1 million people, provided 300,000 people with glasses and referred 250,000 people for specialist treatment.
